CANTO ANTICO (Italy)

Location: Lake Promenade

Free entrance

Canto Antico are a blend of Italian ancestral rites and urban sounds, suggestions from the 1970s and Neapolitan black music grooves from the underground. Their music is a strong homage to the roots and the meaning of being from the South of Italy. The voice performs a meaningful and archaic world, which revolves around the essential rhythmic drive of the tammorra (a traditional frame drum), while the piffero (a traditional reed instrument) betrays its origins. It plays with the modern sound of the bass guitar and a multi-percussion set. The final effect is a compact rhythmic and danceable sound that has been enthusing audiences in the most prestigious theatres, festivals and Indie-Clubs throughout Europe.[...]

The traditional music of Eastern Europe has been given a modern sensibility by Belgium-based band, Panta Rhei.
