PRESS RELEASE 4
It is quite possible that this year’s Okarina had its best line-up ever. Between 27 July and 6 August, Bled hosted the greatest names of ethno and jazz music, attracting more than 10 thousand visitors to the Bled Castle, Promenade and the Festival Hall.
Particularly unforgettable among the 11 concerts were icons of African music – Orchestra Baobab, who attracted an unprecedented number of visitors to their performance, filling the venue at the Bled Promenade to capacity. Other special mentions go to Grammy-winner Hiromi, sevdah queen Amira Medunjanin and pianist Omar Sosa, who performed the first three ever Okarina ticketed events, which were, however, almost all sold out. Then there were Gocoo, 16 Japanese drummers, Juan Carmona, flamenco master with his dreamy rhythms, Vieux Farka Toure on the guitar, and many others.
With our thoughts still with this year’s festival, minds full of praise coming from visitors and performers alike, and all eager to make the Okarina Festival the major ethno jazz festival not only in Slovenia but in the wider area, the festival team have already began planning its 28th edition, inviting you to visit Bled between 26 July and 5 August 2018.
